Russian dictator Vladimir Putin cannot stop the war against Ukraine because it is a matter of his physical survival, Ukrainian political strategist Taras Zahorodnii says in a comment to RBC-Ukraine's YouTube channel.

"Look, he (Putin - ed.) can't stop the war for various reasons. Because it’s a matter of his physical survival. Let's put it this way: suppose he stops. The Russian economy is still a disaster. And what do you do with all those people you've pumped full of propaganda? And so on... It’s just not something that can be done," Zahorodnii said.

The expert added that the Russian dictator will keep "playing" until the very end. Even if Russia starts to collapse, Putin will continue to believe he can find a way out.

Washington's attempts to end war

In recent months, the United States has held a number of separate meetings with representatives of both Russia and Ukraine in an effort to settle the war. During talks with Kyiv, Washington proposed a complete ceasefire. Ukraine, in turn, supported the proposal, but the Kremlin began whining and putting forward its own conditions.

After that, Russia initiated a series of so-called "truces," which it continued to violate. For example, on April 28, dictator Putin announced a temporary "truce" from May 8 to 11, citing "humanitarian reasons." According to Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, these Russian "ceasefires" are a new hybrid tactic by the Kremlin.
