According to family nutritionist Tetiana Rybka, seven foods are particularly beneficial for children’s health and can help boost a child’s intellectual potential.
Whole grains
These include oats, buckwheat, and brown rice. Whole grains provide a stable energy level for the brain, as they contain complex carbohydrates that support concentration and focus throughout the day.
Berries
Rich in antioxidants, berries protect the brain from oxidative stress. Experts note that antioxidants also enhance memory and learning abilities.
Nuts
Particularly walnuts and seeds, rich in vitamin E, help protect brain cells from damage and aging. They also supply proteins and healthy fats, which support brain function.
Fatty fish
This type of fish is rich in omega-3 fatty acids (DHA and EPA), essential for brain development and cognitive function. According to the American Heart Association, omega-3s improve memory and concentration.
Eggs

Foods to avoid for children
It is advised to avoid foods with added sugars and low-calorie or zero-calorie sweeteners. Fresh fruit or dried fruit are better alternatives as they are naturally sweetened.
Additionally, children under one year old should not be given honey, whether raw or heat-treated. Raw meat, fish, and eggs should also be avoided.
