First speakers capable of reproducing scents presented
The Japanese company AromaJoin has created a unique device called the Aroma Speaker 60. In addition to producing sounds, this device can reproduce various scents within a range of up to two meters.
The material was prepared using the following sources: Yanko Design, AromaJoin.
Key details about new product
The latest development was presented at the international consumer electronics exhibition CES 2024, which started on January 9, 2024, in Las Vegas, USA.
Specific details about the technologies used are not disclosed at the moment. However, it is known that the AromaJoin speaker can project high-quality sound and at least 60 different unique aromas.
According to the developers, users of the Aroma Speaker 60 will have the opportunity to "tune" their own aromas by using special aromatic cartridges.
There is no information yet about the mass production of the Aroma Speaker 60. The product presentation seems to serve as a demonstration of the technology to attract developers and manufacturers.
However, it is not excluded that they may already be produced on demand, with the possibility of customization.

Design of Aroma Speaker 60
The speaker consists of five modules, each containing six cartridges with basic aromas.
The latest stereo system, as a whole, comprises two such speakers and can be connected to a laptop, computer, or other gadgets.
Interestingly, the aromas produced by the Aroma Speaker 60 can be completely different:
-
Pleasant (salted caramel or other food and drinks)
-
Natural (the scent of flowers, rain, or freshly cut grass)
-
Unpleasant (smoke or fire smell, smog in a metropolis, etc.)
Moreover, the smells are "dynamic" - they can change in sync with the images on the screen or with the musical accompaniment.

What is known about aroma cartridges
According to information on the manufacturer's website, the innovative aroma cartridges are "solid-state" and do not contain liquid or gaseous substances (oils, vapors, etc.).
Moreover, they are capable of rapidly "switching" between aromas (in 0.1 seconds) and instantly blending.
"This makes our aromatic system perfect for all forms of digital entertainment, including virtual reality," emphasized the company.
It is specified that "these small cartridges last for three months."
Among the main categories of scents offered for sale, it is worth mentioning: citrus aromas, scents of beverages and sweets, scents of plants and flowers, scents of fruits and greens, nut aromas, perfumes, and so on.
