IO Interactive has postponed the release of the spy action game 007 First Light, dedicated to James Bond. The game will now launch on May 27, 2026, instead of the originally planned March release, according to Engadget.

What we know

The company explained that the two-month delay is necessary for additional polishing and refinement of the project. Developers emphasized that the game is already fully playable from start to finish but requires extra attention to deliver the “strongest possible version at launch.”

IO Interactive promised to share more details at the beginning of next year.

007 First Light will be the first James Bond game in more than ten years. The same team that created the famous Hitman series is developing the project, which has already been called potentially the best Bond game since GoldenEye.

The gameplay promises to be dynamic and packed with spy elements. The story is original and covers different stages of the long-running franchise.

According to narrative director Martin Emborg, the story will focus on a young and inexperienced James Bond, a direction that, as noted, Amazon also plans to develop in future films about the character.

The developers also revealed the cast. The main role is played by Patrick Gibson, known for The OA and Dexter: Original Sin. The main antagonist will be portrayed by Lenny Kravitz. The project also features Lenny James, Kira Lester, Alastair Mackenzie, and Priyanga Burford.
