On the night of Sunday, October 26, Kyiv came under a massive drone attack. As a result of the Russian strike, a fire broke out, debris was reported falling, and there were casualties.

RBC-Ukraine summarizes everything known about the overnight drone strike.

How Russia attacked

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, a group of attack drones was moving toward Kyiv around 2:23 AM. A few minutes later, an air raid alert was declared in the capital.

Starting around 2:30 AM, explosions and air defense activity were repeatedly heard in the city. The military later confirmed that a group of drones was directly over Kyiv.

The all-clear was issued roughly an hour after the alert began.

Consequences

Local authorities reported that the aftermath of the strike was recorded in at least two districts, Desnianskyi and Obolonskyi.

Desnianskyi district

Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klychko said a nine-story residential building was hit at the level of the 2nd–3rd floors.

Head of the Kyiv City Military Administration (KCMA) Tymur Tkachenko later added that a fire broke out in a multi-apartment building in the same district. He also noted that windows were blown out by the blast wave at another address.

In addition, debris from a drone fell on the roof of another high-rise building. Klychko clarified that it was a 16-story residential building.

Obolonskyi district

Information on this area remains limited.

"In the Obolonskyi district, debris damaged the roof of a high-rise building. The details are being clarified," Tkachenko reported.

Casualties

The number of victims in Kyiv continues to rise. Initially, one hospitalized child was reported.

Later, the number of injured exceeded a dozen, and eventually two dozen.

As of 4:22 AM Kyiv time, the city authorities reported 26 injured people, including six children.

Russian strikes on Kyiv

On the night of October 25, Russian forces launched ballistic missile attacks on the capital. Three districts of Kyiv, Dniprovskyi, Desnianskyi, and Darnytskyi, were affected.

Windows in residential buildings and a kindergarten were damaged, and reports also mentioned a destroyed store and other facilities.

One person was killed and nine others were injured, three of whom were hospitalized.
