Fire in 9-story building, children among injured - Update on drone strike on Odesa

In the early hours of Thursday, July 3, Russia launched a Shahed-type drone attack on Odesa. A strike on a residential high-rise was confirmed in the city.

Explosions in Odesa
Around 3 AM Kyiv time, explosions were heard in Odesa; shortly before that, reports had indicated the movement of strike drones toward the city. Later, Mayor Hennadii Trukhanov confirmed that residential buildings had been damaged as a result of the attack.
"Information on casualties is being clarified. An emergency response center and utility services are working at the scene," he stated.
Strike aftermath
According to Trukhanov, the drone attack resulted in a direct hit on a nine-story residential building.
"A high-rise building was heavily damaged. All emergency services are working at the scene. Assistance is being provided to the victims," he specified.
According to the State Emergency Service (SES), the attack damaged a nine-story residential building, causing a fire that spread from the 7th to the 9th floors.
"An initial inspection showed that one of the building's entrances suffered significant damage, making it unsafe to enter. After removing hazardous structural elements, experts will carry out a detailed assessment of the building’s condition to determine the next steps," Trukhanov stated.
Casualties
As of 06:20, rescuers had evacuated 50 residents from the building, including 10 people, 2 of them children, who were rescued using special equipment.
Unfortunately, four people were injured.
Night drone attack
On the evening of Wednesday, July 2, the Russian army once again launched several groups of attack drones across Ukrainian territory. Air raid alerts were reported in multiple regions.
