Fighting for Chasiv Yar continues day and night, Russia changes tactics - Ukrainian military
Russian troops have reduced the number of massive meat assaults in the Chasiv Yar area of the Donetsk region. At the same time, the Russian occupiers are trying to enter from the direction of Ivanivske and Bohdanivka more often to find weaknesses in the Ukrainian defense, according to Nazar Voloshyn, spokesperson for the Khortytsia operational and strategic group of troops.
"The situation has not changed in Chasiv Yar. Active hostilities continue day and night. The enemy has not made any territorial gains in recent days. They continue to destroy Chasiv Yar with artillery and guided aerial bombs, which they drop on the town and nearby settlements," says Voloshyn.
According to him, the Russians are trying to capture Chasiv Yar and its heights to continue shelling Druzhkivka, Sloviansk, and Kramatorsk.
In addition, Russia has changed its tactics. The Russian occupiers are no longer conducting such massive meaty assaults as before, but are more often trying to enter from the direction of Ivanivske and Bohdanivka to find weaknesses in the Ukrainian defense.
"Russia has recently been sending mobilized ex-prisoners to the assault. Russia is saving its equipment. Russia is making every effort to have some success in this area, but it has no success. At the same time, they are actively using artillery and drone strikes on the outskirts of Chasiv Yar," adds the spokesperson.
According to him, almost 150 mortar and artillery attacks were registered in this area over the previous day alone. In the morning, 12 enemy attacks were registered.
Situation in Chasiv Yar area
Due to active hostilities and daily Russian shelling, the town of Chasiv Yar in the Donetsk region has been virtually destroyed.
According to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, without control over Chasiv Yar, the Russians are unlikely to be able to advance further to the Kramatorsk and Kostiantynivka directions.
Currently, the Ukrainian military is controlling the situation around Chasiv Yar. Active fighting continues around the clock, but there are no Russian occupants in the town.
According to the latest report by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), the Ukrainian Defense Forces have regained positions near Chasiv Yar.
