Do you have a money tree at home and don't know where to put it and how to care for it? Everything is not as complicated as it may seem at first glance because this plant is unpretentious and "convenient" for everyone. And some believe that it can attract wealth.

The following sources were used in the preparation of the material: Floren, toNature.info, Center of Family Medicine.

What money tree "loves"

The money tree (fat tree or beauty tree) is one of the most unpretentious succulent plants, which are famous for their endurance.

It is able to stand both heat and coolness. It feels good in the shade but prefers bright lighting.

The most favorable temperature for the growth of a money tree is considered to be 22-28 degrees Celsius in spring and summer, or 9-15 degrees Celsius in the cold season.

It is not recommended to place this plant near heating batteries or heating devices, otherwise the leaves may fall.

It is also useful to give the plant access to fresh air (it also likes regular ventilation). When it's warm outside, you can even take it outside.

Watering a money tree has its own characteristics - it is extremely undesirable for the soil to be too wet (then the plant may develop fungal diseases or rotting processes will begin in the soil).

In the warm season, the fat plant should be watered no more than twice a week. In winter, the frequency of watering can be halved.

In addition, it is very important to trim the money tree in time - so that it does not break under the weight of branches and shoots.

"Magic" properties of money tree

Some believe in the "magical" properties of the money tree, especially if it blooms (which is rare since this plant blooms no earlier than after 5-10 years of life and under the condition of proper care - lighting and watering).

According to popular beliefs, the money tree:

  • is able to improve the well-being and well-being of the family - attract money and ensure prosperity

  • is an "indicator" of the health of the people next to whom it grows - it absorbs the negative energy of an unhealthy organism and begins to wither, and after the person recovers, it returns to its healthy appearance

At the same time, this plant is widely used in folk medicine - for the treatment of inflammatory diseases, cuts, burns, bruises, as well as some diseases of internal organs.

Experts note that the medicinal properties of the money tree are in many ways similar to another medicinal plant - Kalanchoe (it has antiviral, anti-inflammatory and bactericidal properties).

Finally, it is worth noting that the leaves of the money tree contain arsenic (one of the strongest natural poisons), so its internal use can cause diarrhea, vomiting and even the loss of consciousness.

Best place for money tree

If you believe the ancient Chinese mystical teaching about the harmony of man and the universe - feng shui - the money tree begins to "work" if you place it:

  • in the eastern part of the house

  • near a bright light source

  • under a lamp with a red shade (or next to other red objects)

Some advise also to tie the plant with a red ribbon and put special Chinese coins "for luck" near its pot (or bury it in the soil).
