FBI hacked attacker's phone on Trump: Details revealed
The FBI has confiscated the mobile phone of Thomas Matthew Crook, who shot at US presidential candidate Donald Trump. In addition, law enforcement officials have examined his computer, searched his home and car, and interviewed over 100 individuals, according to the Associated Press.
A law enforcement official, speaking anonymously about the ongoing investigation, informed the agency that Crook's phone yielded no significant clues regarding motives or whether he acted alone or had accomplices.
Furthermore, there has been no public disclosure of any writings, suicide notes, social media posts, or other indicators that would explain his reasons for the attack on Trump.
Crook's political preferences remain unclear. He was registered as a Republican in Pennsylvania, but federal campaign finance records also show that on January 20, 2021, he donated $15 to a progressive political action committee, the day President Democrat Joe Biden was inaugurated.
Bullying in school
Former classmates state that Crook was frequently bullied in high school. They describe him as a loner and an outcast. Crook had wanted to join the school's rifle shooting team, but he was denied because he was a poor shot.
Assassination attempt
An assassination attempt on Donald Trump was made on July 13 during a rally in Pennsylvania. He sustained a minor gunshot wound to the ear.
The Secret Service has mentioned an Iranian connection to the assassination attempt. According to their information, Iran poses a threat to several politicians from the former Trump administration due to the killing of the head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in 2020.
