In an upscale district of Milan, a well-known Ukrainian banker, 54-year-old Oleksandr Adarich, died under mysterious circumstances, La Repubblica reports.
Adarich fell from a window of a five-story building on Nerino Street. His body was found on January 23 in the courtyard near the building.
According to preliminary information, he fell from the fourth floor, and police are considering a possible murder theory.
Video cameras recorded two people leaving the building after the fall. Investigators are trying to identify them.
According to the concierge, someone was in the apartment after the fall and asked in English, "What happened?", after which the person left.
Who was Oleksandr Adarich
Oleksandr Adarich was a Ukrainian with dual citizenship (Ukraine and Romania) and a former banker with extensive experience in the financial sector, including serving as president of Fidobank and other banking structures.
Until 2008, he served as chairman of the board of Ukrsibbank (one of Ukraine's largest commercial banks), after which he went on to lead AS Zrostannia, an investment fund.
According to various sources, he appeared on lists of top managers and had interests in business structures in Luxembourg and other countries.
Documents with his photographs but with different names were found in the room, which complicated the identification of the individual.
Inspectors are checking whether any violent actions were committed before death. A forensic examination is to determine whether Adarich was already dead before falling from the window.
For now, the case is being treated as a potential premeditated murder, including the staging of a suicide.
