An F/A-18 Hornet fighter jet crashed in Finland. The pilot managed to eject, and a rescue operation is ongoing, according to the Finnish Air Force on X.

The incident occurred on May 7 around 11:00 on the territory of the Rovaniemi airport.

An aviation accident involving a F/A-18 Hornet fighter jet of the country’s Air Force occurred in the north of Finland.

According to preliminary data, the aircraft fell within a military zone. The pilot, who used the ejection seat, was taken for additional medical examination.

Rescuers are working at the scene, and the crash area is cordoned off. According to official information, there are no civilian casualties.

The causes of the accident are being clarified.

Earlier, RBC-Ukraine wrote that the American aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman lost a second fighter jet in a week. This time, the cause was not a Houthi attack.

Also, on April 29, another F/A-18 fighter jet fell overboard from the aircraft carrier during a sharp turn of the ship, which was performed to avoid enemy fire.
