Explosions rock Crimea again: Russia reports drone strike on Kacha airbase

In the temporarily occupied Crimea, on the evening of Monday, September 22, explosions were heard again. There was an attack on the Kacha airbase, according to the Telegram channel Crimean Wind and the governor of Sevastopol, Mikhail Razvozhayev.
At around 8:50 p.m. local time, Russian authorities declared an air raid alert on the peninsula. According to Razvozhayev, Russian air defense was operating in Crimea and destroyed two aerial targets.
At the same time, the monitoring channel Crimean Wind stated that the Kacha airbase in Crimea was attacked. About two months ago, Ukrainian partisans from the Atesh movement conducted reconnaissance at the Kacha airbase in occupied Crimea and identified key Russian military facilities.
The Kacha airbase is a military airfield near Sevastopol in occupied Crimea that holds strategic importance for Russian forces. It is used as a base for the Russian Black Sea Fleet’s naval aviation and for the deployment of drones, helicopters, and aircraft.
Kacha regularly becomes one of the targets for Ukrainian Armed Forces strikes due to its role in supporting Russian operations in the Black Sea and on the southern front.
Drone attack on Crimea
On the night of May 2, occupied Crimea was massively attacked by strike drones. Explosions were heard in the area of military airbases, air defense was actively engaged, and fires were reported.
Also today, an air raid alert was already declared in Crimea, with Russian authorities reporting a threat to Sevastopol. Local media wrote that the city was under attack by unidentified drones.
Yesterday, late in the evening, explosions were reported in the area of the Foros sanatorium in the temporarily occupied territory. According to media reports, the facility may be linked to the Federal Security Service (FSB).
