Explosions reported in Kharkiv due to Russian shelling: Aftermath
Explosions were heard in Kharkiv during a Russian airstrike on the night of October 28. Before that, a threat of enemy air strikes in the eastern direction was announced, according to Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov.
Several explosions occurred in the city area around 2:13 a.m. (Kyiv time).
Kharkiv's mayor warned of a potential follow-up attack from Russian forces.
"Several explosions occurred in Kharkiv. Be cautious — the enemy may conduct another shelling," Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov stated in a Telegram post.
Additionally, residents of Kharkiv were urged to remain in shelters until the air raid alert was lifted.
"Explosions in Kharkiv! Stay in shelters!" wrote Oleh Syniehubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, on his Telegram channel.
Furthermore, shortly before the attacks, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine had warned about the increased activity of Russian tactical aviation in the east and stated that airstrike threats existed for frontline regions.
Later, Mayor Terekhov reported preliminary information indicating a strike on a nine-story residential building in the Kholodnohirskyi district, resulting in a fire and partial destruction.
"Information regarding casualties is being verified. All relevant services are working at the scene," he conveyed.
Subsequently, Oleh Syniehubov noted that the strike in Kharkiv occurred near a residential building.
In the Kholodnohirskyi district, the Russian shelling damaged the walls of the upper floors and shattered the windows of the apartment building.
"A fire broke out next to the apartment building," the official informed.
He added that reports indicated a man sustained injuries from glass and was hospitalized.
Later, the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration reported that after the Russian shelling, medical professionals received three additional calls related to acute stress reactions.
"As of now, we have four casualties from the terrorist night shelling of Kharkiv," the mayor stated around 3 a.m.
As reported earlier, last night, on October 27, explosions occurred in Kharkiv during an enemy air attack using guided bombs. According to the mayor's office, Russian forces attacked a residential building in Kharkiv.
Later, it became known that the number of people injured in Kharkiv due to air strikes had increased to 6, with hits recorded in two districts of the city. Videos of the aftermath of the enemy shelling have also emerged.
