Explosions were heard in the area of the temporarily occupied Kerch last night, March 5. It is reported that the Russian ship Sergei Kotov could have been sunk as a result of the drone attack, according to the Telegram channel Krymskyi Viter.

"According to our source, the patrol ship Sergei Kotov was sunk at sea. The information needs to be confirmed," the message says.

It is also reported that there are casualties among the crew. In total, after midnight, eyewitnesses in Kerch counted five powerful explosions.

Russian Sergei Kotov ship

The Sergei Kotov is the third serial patrol ship of the 22160 project. The ship was launched at the Zatoka shipyard in January 2021. Sea trials of Sergei Kotov began at the end of October 2021, and only on July 30, 2022, the ship joined the Russian Black Sea Fleet.

The ship is armed with a 76-mm AK-176MA artillery system, a Shtil-1 multichannel anti-aircraft missile system, a 3M-47 Gibka short-range air defense system, two small-sized anti-subversive grenade launchers DP-65, and others. The frigate can also carry a Ka-27PS helicopter.
