A series of powerful explosions occurred in Volgograd during the night of February 15. Russians claim that air defense forces are allegedly shooting down unidentified drones in the area of the local oil refinery, according to Russian Telegram channels.
According to the SHOT channel, residents reported that the explosions began around 03:15 local time. At the same time, they observed bright flashes in the sky. Russians claim that the air defense system allegedly destroyed drones as they approached the local oil refinery in the Krasnoarmeysky district of the city.
Additionally, the sounds of explosions were heard in the Kirovsky district and in the settlement of Krasnoslobodsk.
Later, a video was posted on social media showing one of the powerful explosions in Volgograd. SHOT clarified that over 15 explosions occurred over the city, and they continued for about 45 minutes.
Russians also reported that, amid the explosions, car alarms went off in courtyards. However, no damage has reportedly been caused so far. The explosions are still ongoing. There has been no official information on the matter.
