An explosion was heard in Kharkiv during the night of April 14 amid an aerial threat posed by the Russian drone, according to Oleh Synehubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration.

An explosion rocked Kharkiv early in the morning on April 14, around 05:30 AM, amid reports of a hostile drone flying over the city.

“In Kharkiv, an explosion was heard! The threat of enemy strikes remains,” said Oleh Synehubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration. He urged residents to remain in shelters until the all-clear is given.

Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov also confirmed the explosion and noted that the Russian UAV had been spotted over the city moments before the blast. He added that details regarding the consequences were still being clarified.

Civilian enterprise hit, fire reported

Mayor Terekhov said a civilian enterprise in the city’s Saltivskyi district was struck in the attack. A fire broke out at the impact site, and authorities are working to determine if there are any casualties.

Later, Kharkiv Mayor reported that the fire following the Russian attack had spread across an area of about 1,000 square meters.

He said the blaze engulfed warehouse facilities storing food products.

As of now, no casualties have been reported, the mayor added.

Night drone attacks

The explosion followed a wave of kamikaze drone launches from Russian-occupied territory on the evening of April 13. Due to the threat posed by Shahed drones, air raid alerts were issued across multiple Ukrainian regions.

In a separate attack on Sunday, explosions were also reported in Odesa. Local officials said five people were injured by the drone strike, which caused several fires and damaged civilian infrastructure, including a hospital building.
