Explosion at one of largest steel plants in Russia: Russians claim drone attack
An explosion occured near a metallurgical plant in Cherepovets, Vologda region of the Russian Federation. Russians claim that the purported cause was a drone attack, according to Russian Telegram channels.
Georgiy Filimonov, the Acting Governor of the Vologda region, said that a drone attack allegedly targeted one of Russia's largest metallurgical plants.
According to Russian media reports, the explosion occurred at Severstal plant.
Earlier, the plant's CEO mentioned that there was a "technological incident" this morning at the plant.
Russian forces previously reported destroying a drone near the Bronka port near St. Petersburg. It was shot down over the Gulf of Finland. According to the Russian Ministry, around 7:30 PM, there was an attempted drone attack on Russian objects.
"The unmanned aerial vehicle was destroyed using air defense means over the territory of the Leningrad region," the statement said.
Additionally, on January 10, Russians reported shooting down a drone in the Saratov region near the Engels airfield. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, air defense destroyed the drone overnight. Russians accused Ukraine of a terrorist attack.
The Governor of the Saratov region said that a drone of aircraft type was shot down over the territory of the Engels district.
