Ukraine at Eurovision 2026

Ukraine, which this year was represented by LELÉKA with the song "Ridnym", took 9th place.

"This song has one message that can be interpreted in two directions: internally – for each person who listens to it, and universally – for our commonality as human beings. It is the feeling that we should not be afraid, we should not give in to the aggressor, we should not run away and think: 'Maybe it will blow over, maybe we can do it this way? Maybe we can give away a part, and the aggressor will calm down?'" LELÉKA said in an interview with Radio Promin.

"This is a wrong and destructive position. If we continue to behave like this, the world will slide into the abyss. Only if we, as a community – European, global – dare to look fear in the eye, take a strong stand and say 'No,' will things change. No aggressor, whoever they are, wherever they come from, has the right to do this," the singer added.

What is known about Eurovision 2026

The 70th international song contest was hosted by Vienna. The show took place at the Wiener Stadthalle arena, already familiar to Eurovision fans. It was there that the contest was held in 2015 following Conchita Wurst's victory.

The semi-finals took place on 12 and 14 May, and the grand final on 16 May.

Long before the show started, Eurovision 2026 was surrounded by considerable controversy. After the results of the 2025 contest, some viewers and several broadcasters questioned the televoting system. At that time, Israel received the highest support from TV audiences, sparking a wave of online debate.

Moreover, several countries – including Spain, Ireland, Iceland, and the Netherlands – boycotted the contest due to Israel's participation against the backdrop of the war in Gaza. Because of the massive controversy, the issue was even brought to a separate discussion at the EBU General Assembly.

Despite the debates, Eurovision traditionally remains one of the highest‑rated musical events in the world. Every year, the contest is watched by hundreds of millions of viewers, and the performances garner millions of views on social media and YouTube within hours.
