European Council President outlines ceasefire conditions in Ukraine to Trump's representative

European Council President António Costa stated that a simple ceasefire will not lead to peace in Ukraine. A comprehensive agreement that satisfies both Ukraine and Europe is necessary.
"Peace cannot be a simple ceasefire - we need an agreement that will ensure a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in Ukraine and security in Europe," he wrote after meeting with US Special Representative for Ukraine and Russia Keith Kellogg in Brussels.
According to him, Ukraine can count on Europe.
"We are ready to continue to work constructively with the US to ensure peace and security," Costa added.
Earlier, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen also met with Kellogg. She emphasized that the EU is fully committed to providing military aid to Ukraine and is prepared to do even more.
Von der Leyen also expressed the EU’s willingness to cooperate with the US to end the bloodshed and help secure a just and lasting peace — one that Ukraine and its people rightfully deserve.
