Europe to prepare for long-term confrontation with Russia - Swedish Foreign Minister
Russia will remain a serious threat to the security of Sweden and Europe for the foreseeable future, states the Swedish Foreign Minister Tobias Billström, according to Dagens Nyheter.
"We must prepare for a long-term confrontation that will continue as long as Russia violates the UN Charter and the European security order," he said.
The minister also emphasized that Sweden's military and political support for Ukraine will continue and welcomed the EU's decision to accept Ukraine as a member.
"Ukrainian soldiers are also fighting for our freedom and values," he said.
Swedish aid for Ukraine
On December 11, the Swedish government announced a new aid package to Ukraine in the amount of SEK 1.4 billion ($133.5 million). These funds will be used to support Ukrainians in the winter.
Prior to this, Ukraine and Sweden discussed joint work in the field of innovation and experience gained during the war, as well as military assistance and defense issues in general.
