Several Southeast European countries have confirmed the provision of additional military aid packages to Ukraine.

This was announced by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, according to a national TV broadcast.

According to Sybiha, the agreements were reached during the Ukraine Southeast Europe summit, held in Odesa on Wednesday.

He noted that the confirmation of new defense packages came during bilateral meetings between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his regional counterparts.

Sybiha added that the summit also included discussions on bilateral initiatives, especially infrastructure projects.

"On a bilateral level, we also discussed energy. Our partners were already asking how they could support Ukraine ahead of the upcoming winter heating season. We saw a clear readiness to provide concrete assistance," the foreign minister said.

Summit in Odesa and defense support

The Ukraine Southeast Europe summit took place in Odesa on Wednesday, June 11.

The high-level meeting was attended by Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković, Romanian President Klaus Iohannis, and Moldovan President Maia Sandu.

Notably, this was Vučić’s first visit to Ukraine since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion.

However, the Serbian leader declined to sign the summit’s final declaration, which included a condemnation of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.

Separately, the United Kingdom announced its decision to provide Ukraine with additional air defense systems.
