EU officially lifts sanctions on Russian oligarchs Usmanov and Fridman

"The EU has extended until 22 September 2029 the EU sanctions targeting those responsible for undermining or threatening the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine. They apply to more than 3 000 individuals and entities," the European Council said.

Jozwiak reported that two Russian oligarchs had been removed from the EU's sanctions against Russia.

The EU's Committee of Permanent Representatives agreed to remove Alisher Usmanov and Mikhail Fridman from the sanctions list against Russia.

At the same time, restrictions on about 3,000 other individuals and entities are expected to be extended for another three years. In addition, Latvia plans to impose its own national sanctions on the two Russian oligarchs.

In addition, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said that lifting restrictions on Russian oligarchs would send Moscow a "wrong signal."
