EU grants Ukraine another €1.5 bn in macro-financial assistance - Ursula von der Leyen
The European Union has granted Ukraine another package of macro-financial assistance worth €1.5 billion. President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, announced this on Twitter.
"Today we disburse another €1.5 bn for Ukraine in macro-financial assistance. We help keep Ukraine’s services and infrastructure afloat in its brave fight for freedom," she wrote.
Ursula von der Leyen also added that the EU will continue to provide steady financial support until 2027.
EU assistance
Since the start of the full-scale war, the EU has provided Ukraine with over €12 billion in macro-financial assistance. These funds are aimed at supporting Ukraine's budget, including salary and pension payments, as well as critical infrastructure repairs.
According to the memorandum signed in December 2022, EU countries will provide Ukraine with €18 billion in macro-financial assistance in 2023.
