European Union ambassadors agreed on the last step before transferring frozen Russian assets to Ukraine, according to Radio Liberty correspondent Rikard Jozwiak.

"EU ambassadors have agreed the final step - sending the seized windfall profits of Russian state assets that are frozen in the EU to Ukraine," he said on X.

Russian frozen assets

After the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine, some of Ukraine's allies seized Russian state assets that were within the states at the time.

Currently, about $300 billion of Russian assets are frozen in the accounts of Ukraine's partner countries. They are now considering how to use the profits or interest from these assets to help Ukraine.

But yesterday it was reported parts of the European Union might backpedal on a plan to utilize profits from Russia's frozen assets to purchase arms for Ukraine.
