Estonia to purchase ATACMS missiles from USA in addition to HIMARS
Estonia intends to acquire long-range ATACMS missiles from the United States in addition to the HIMARS launcher systems, according to ERR.
It should be noted that Estonia entered into a contract with the United States for the purchase of HIMARS launcher systems, missiles, and related equipment in December of the previous year. Deliveries are scheduled to take place throughout the year 2025.
Among the munitions Estonia will receive are long-range ATACMS missiles, capable of engaging targets at distances of up up to 300 kilometers.
It has been reported that Estonian artillery personnel gained their initial experience with HIMARS during large-scale joint exercises in the spring, involving American forces. However, ATACMS missiles have not yet been employed in Estonia.
What proceeded this
At the end of 2022, Estonia entered into a contract with the United States for the purchase of HIMARS exceeding 200 million dollars. This represents the country's largest defense procurement to date. The package includes various missiles with ranges spanning from 70 to 300 kilometers.
Furthermore, it is noteworthy that the Estonian government is urging NATO member states to increase defense spending in response to Russian aggression.
