Türkiye is ready to provide support to achieve sustainable peace in Ukraine and can host peace talks, reports Anadolu Ajansi.

During the phone call between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Russian leader Vladimir Putin, the parties discussed the relations between the two countries.

Erdoğan expressed confidence that ensuring the security of commercial shipping in the Black Sea would contribute to the peace process to end the full-scale war in Ukraine.

He emphasized the importance of Ankara and Moscow working together to achieve sustainable peace in Syria. He also called for the disbandment of the Syrian Democratic Forces.

Türkiye's position on the war in Ukraine

Türkiye has a relatively neutral position on the war in Ukraine, trying to maintain a balance between supporting Ukraine and maintaining its relations with Russia. Ankara condemned Russia's invasion and expressed support for Ukraine's territorial integrity.

It did not join the Western sanctions against Russia, maintaining economic ties with Moscow, but advocated peace talks between Ukraine and Russia.

Erdoğan said recently that Ankara had activated all diplomatic means to resolve the full-scale war in Ukraine.
