Russian forces are using equipment located on residential buildings in Belarus to strike Ukraine. This equipment helps guide Shahed drones to their targets, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Telegram.

According to the Ukrainian head of state, he held a meeting of the Staff of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief. The session focused on countering Russian Shahed drone strikes, Ukraine’s Drone Line, and deep strikes.

Belarus assisting Russia in attacking Ukraine

The president noted that the Russian army is trying to bypass interceptor defense positions via Belarusian territory, which poses risks for Belarus. According to him, Ukraine has observed actions involving Oreshnik and now with the Shaheds. In this way, Belarus is surrendering its sovereignty to Russian aggressive manipulation.

"According to our intelligence, the equipment used in strikes against Ukraine is located in Belarusian settlements near the border, including on residential buildings," Zelenskyy said.

In particular, antennas and other equipment that help guide Shahed drones to targets in western Ukraine are being installed on the roofs of ordinary five-story apartment buildings.

"This is an absolute disregard for human life, and it is important that Minsk stop playing with this. We will inform our partners and prepare joint responses,” the president added.

Interceptor drones

The second topic of discussion was the funding of interceptor drones and the structure of their distribution to the military. Zelenskyy noted that some units have criticized how the drones are allocated.

The president said he instructed First Vice Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, together with Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal and the command of the Unmanned Systems Forces, to modernize the drone distribution system to ensure more units receive the necessary number of drones.

New air defense strategy

Zelenskyy also instructed the next meeting of the Staff of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief that the General Staff and the Ministry of Defense should work on changes to the air defense strategy and present what needs to be done to give Ukrainian units more capabilities both in protecting infrastructure and defending frontline positions.

Zelenskyy previously stated that Russia uses Belarusian territory for attacks on Kovel in Volhynia, particularly in terms of the technical component.
