Many people think losing weight is impossible without strict diets, giving up fast food, or skipping favorite foods—but even McDonald’s meals can fit into a weight loss plan.
Fitness coach Rosie May, on her Instagram, explains how to enjoy fast food without guilt.
Can you eat fast food and still lose weight?
Fitness coach Rosie May insists you can eat at McDonald’s, as long as you follow the main rule: a calorie deficit.
In her video, she clarified that she doesn’t suggest replacing a burger with a salad or cutting out treats entirely. Instead, a few smart swaps in your order can significantly reduce the overall calorie intake.
The main principle – calorie deficit
According to the coach, to lose weight, you need to burn more calories than you consume. Your favorite foods don’t have to disappear from the menu—it’s just important to keep the overall balance.
Rosie gave an example of a popular order: large fries, a Double Quarter Pounder with cheese, and a large sweet soda. Together, this combo contains about 1,385 calories, already a large portion of the daily intake for many people.
Three swaps that really work
The expert recommends starting with drinks. Switching from regular Coke to Coke Zero or a diet version saves over 200 calories without a noticeable difference in taste.
Second, choose medium fries instead of large, another 100+ calories saved.
Finally, swap a large cheeseburger for a small one. The total reduction exceeds 500 calories, yet you still have a burger, fries, and a drink on your tray.
Why does even a small difference matters
At first glance, 500 calories may not seem like much. But according to Rosie, this deficit can lead to roughly half a kilo of weight loss per week and dozens of kilos in a year if maintained consistently.
She emphasizes that losing weight shouldn’t be boring or overly restrictive. It’s far more effective to learn to make healthier choices and approach eating consciously.
