Energy and rail targets hit: Key details on night shelling of Ukraine
Russians attacked Ukraine again on the night of July 20. This time, the targets included not only energy infrastructure but also the railways.

How Russia attacked
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the Russian military launched three Iskander-M ballistic missiles, one Iskander-K cruise missile, 16 Shahed kamikaze drones, and one unidentified UAV at Ukraine.
Air defense systems destroyed 12 Shaheds and one unidentified drone.
The enemy targeted five regions: Kharkiv, Poltava, Sumy, Chernihiv, and Kyiv.
Were there hits in Kyiv?
It is known that air defense was active in the Kyiv region during the night, and there was a threat to the capital.
The Kyiv City Military Administration emphasized that there were no direct hits in Kyiv. However, fragments of an enemy drone were found in the Solomianskyi district.
There is no information about damage or casualties.
Impact on energy infrastructure
Russia attacked energy facilities in three Ukrainian regions. According to Ukrenergo, Russian drones targeted transmission system operator facilities in Poltava, Sumy, and Chernihiv regions.
The attacks caused power outages for consumers in Poltava and Chernihiv regions.
The Sumy and Chernihiv regional administrations reported that necessary services are working at the impact sites. Emergency recovery operations are underway. Preliminary information indicates that there are no casualties.
Strike on railways
In the Kharkiv region, the railways were hit. Four railway workers were injured, and buildings and rolling stock were damaged.
The contact network on the outskirts of Kharkiv was also damaged, causing delays for trains to Kyiv, including trains 63 and 719. They resumed service overnight. The Intercity train to Kramatorsk is also delayed.
Ukrzaliznytsia noted that some passengers are waiting for their trains, while others are being transported by minivans for speed and convenience.
Updated at 9:35 AM: Ukrzaliznytsia reports that transfers for passengers of night trains from Kharkiv have been successfully completed. Repair work is ongoing on the railways.
Trains to Kramatorsk will arrive with significant delays. The same applies to the return journey from Kramatorsk, which will be possible later.
Poltava region
Poltava region was attacked by kamikaze drones. According to the regional administration, there were hits in the Poltava district, with 16 settlements experiencing power outages. As of the morning, nearly 3,800 consumers are without electricity, and 700 are without water.
In the Mirhorod district, civilian infrastructure was damaged, and a fire broke out, which has already been extinguished. Fortunately, there were no casualties.
