The 78th Emmy Awards ceremony took place in Los Angeles, honoring the best television projects and acting performances of the year. Among the evening’s biggest winners were The Pitt, The Widow’s Bay, and D-T-F St. Louis.

Who were the big winners at the 2026 Emmys
For the second year in a row, "The Pitt" was named Best Drama Series. Noah Wyle, who plays the lead role in the series, won the award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.
In the comedy categories, "The Widow’s Bay" dominated. The show won the top prize for Outstanding Comedy Series and collected 14 awards overall for the season, setting a new record for a comedy series.
Matthew Rhys won Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for his role in "The Widow’s Bay."
That same evening, he received another statuette for his leading role in the miniseries or television movie "The Beast in Me."
Thus, Rhys became the first actor to win in two categories for leading male roles at the same ceremony.
Jean Smart was named Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for the fifth consecutive time for her role as Deborah Vance in "Hacks."
She has won the award for every season of the series, becoming the first woman to achieve such a feat.
In the drama category, Rhea Seehorn was named Outstanding Lead Actress for "Pluribus," while "D-T-F St. Louis" won Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series.
