Elon Musk wants to train Grok on SpaceX employees’ thoughts

Elon Musk told employees at an internal corporate meeting that SpaceX plans to use its workers’ work data to train Grok, according to Business Insider.

Musk said that the company is preparing to train the Grok AI on all of SpaceX’s information, including the contributions of every employee.
The billionaire noted that employees will effectively become parents to the AI, and the system will inherit their thoughts, ideas and beliefs.
The SpaceX chief believes this will help give future models the desired values, as he considers his workers "a collective of some of the best people on Earth."
The training will cover the company’s entire information base. However, the exact types of data involved and privacy protection mechanisms have not yet been disclosed.
Collecting corporate cases
The move is reportedly driven by the fact that AI developers have nearly exhausted freely available data on the internet.
Technology giants are now looking for new sources, including information from workers, data from sensors and production lines. The goal is to teach algorithms to perform tasks in the real world.
Meta launched a similar initiative in April, collecting data on employees’ keystrokes and mouse movements. However, the project had to be suspended in June following harsh criticism and a leak of private conversations and productivity data across the company.
Grok Bot development and SpaceX plans
SpaceX is trying to catch up with competitors in the technology race, as the Grok model currently lags behind developments from OpenAI and Anthropic on key benchmark tests.
To strengthen its position, the company is buying the startup Cursor for $60 billion and has also acquired xAI ahead of its stock market debut.
In addition, SpaceX launched the Grok Bot tool - an AI agent designed to autonomously perform tasks on a computer.
Musk urged all employees to "use the new AI and help improve it."
The billionaire said that dominance in the AI sector will bring more profits, and repeated his promise that "every SpaceX employee will eventually be able to take a vacation on the Moon or Mars."
