SpaceX CEO Elon Musk stated on X that Starlink is crucial for the Ukrainian army, and without it, the front line would collapse. He also called for an immediate peace agreement.
Elon Musk made several bold statements regarding the war in Ukraine and his role in it.
He emphasized that his Starlink system is key for the Ukrainian army, noting, "I literally challenged Putin to one on one physical combat over Ukraine and my Starlink system is the backbone of the Ukrainian army."
Musk also expressed frustration with the prolonged conflict, calling for an immediate peace agreement.
"What I am sickened by is years of slaughter in a stalemate that Ukraine will inevitably lose. Anyone who really cares, really thinks and really understands wants the meat grinder to stop," Musk stated.
Starlink's operation in Ukraine
The Starlink satellite network, owned by Elon Musk, has provided critical communication for Ukraine since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion—both in combat zones and on liberated territories. However, throughout the three years of the war, there have been repeated concerns about the potential blocking of terminals.
Although this has not yet happened, the future of Starlink in Ukraine has once again become a topic of discussion amid the suspension of US military aid. According to Reuters, during negotiations for a mineral deal, the US side even hinted at the possibility of disconnecting Ukraine from the network.
The Starlink system plays a crucial role in maintaining communication for Ukrainian forces. However, SpaceX has limited the use of Starlink for operating combat drones, emphasizing that the service is intended for humanitarian purposes.
