Elderberry tea can help fight cold symptoms
Doctor Stefan Cabral shared information about supplements you can take to reduce the duration of your illness when experiencing symptoms of the flu or a cold.
How to alleviate cold symptoms?
The medical expert shared a key ingredient that may help speed up recovery from flu and colds. As winter brings infections, we all try to avoid germs, but sometimes catching a virus is inevitable.
The doctor shared lesser-known supplements that can reduce the duration of illness. We're talking about elderberry, a well-known plant commonly found in Ukraine.
"If you're feeling cold or viral symptoms, there are certain supplements that can help stop this. Elderberry tea and echinacea tea would be great, as it has already been scientifically proven that elderberry shortens the duration of illness, particularly flu," said Stefan.
But there is one important point. If you are prone to colds, it’s best to start taking elderberry supplements in advance to help your body fight off any flu-like viruses. Don’t expect it to work as effectively if you start taking it after you’ve already fallen ill.
Elderberries, a globally recognized medicinal plant, can be harmful if consumed raw, causing symptoms like nausea and diarrhea.
Although Dr. Stefan Cabral claims that elderberry has been scientifically proven to reduce the duration of flu, the medical data supporting this is limited.
Modern studies suggest that elderberries may contain properties that combat the flu virus and alleviate cold and flu symptoms, but no definitive conclusions have been drawn. A 2011 study showed that liquid elderberry extract inhibited the growth of certain streptococcal bacteria and flu viruses in laboratory conditions.
