Eight more children rescued from occupation in Kherson region
Eight more children have been evacuated from the occupied part of the Kherson region. They are now in Ukrainian-controlled territory, according to the statement from Oleksandr Prokudin, head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, on Telegram.
Five girls and three boys, aged between 6 and 17, have been successfully returned from occupation.
"The children were welcomed back to their homeland, and the horrors they faced are now behind them. They are currently safe with their families and receiving necessary medical and psychological support," the statement reads.
Since the beginning of 2024, a total of 162 children from the Kherson region have been returned to Ukrainian-controlled territory.
Return of Ukrainian children
Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets previously reported that Russia has illegally deported over 19,000 Ukrainian children.
It is also noteworthy that the International Criminal Court has issued an arrest warrant for Russian dictator Vladimir Putin in connection with the deportation of Ukrainian children. In recent sanctions packages, the European Union has imposed restrictions on individuals involved in the deportation of Ukrainian children, including citizens of Russia and Belarus.
