Eiffel Tower lights up in blue and yellow for Ukraine's Independence Day

The Eiffel Tower in Paris was illuminated in blue and yellow to mark the 35th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence. The symbolic gesture was part of an evening of solidarity with Ukraine and the Ukrainian people held at Trocadéro Square, the Embassy of Ukraine in France reports.
What the Eiffel Tower looked like
The ceremony was opened by Paris Mayor Emmanuel Grégoire and Ukraine’s Ambassador to France Vadym Omelchenko.
Ukrainians, members of the Ukrainian community, as well as French friends and partners of Ukraine took part in the event. Members of the Ukrainian choir Zerniatko also performed for those attending.
The blue-and-yellow illumination of one of Paris’s most famous landmarks became a symbol of support for Ukraine on Independence Day.
Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron congratulated Ukraine on its 35th anniversary of independence. The French leader expressed solidarity with the Ukrainian people and stressed that France, Europe and partners in the Coalition of the Willing would continue to support Ukraine.
“A free people cannot be conquered. Ukraine stands. France, Europe and all partners in the Coalition of the Willing stand with it,” Macron said.
He also reaffirmed support for Ukrainians who continue to fight for their country’s freedom, sovereignty and future.
