Forecast of magnetic storms from December 5 to 8
According to space weather forecasts, mid-December is expected to be accompanied by fluctuations in Earth's magnetic field.
December 5, Friday – moderate activity, Kp-4; in the afternoon, activity will begin to increase.
December 6, Saturday – magnetic storm level G1 (Kp 5), most noticeable for weather-sensitive people.
December 7, Sunday – storm continues, level G1 (Kp 5-6).
December 8, Monday – gradual decrease in activity, Kp 3-4.
What is a magnetic storm
A geomagnetic storm is a disturbance of Earth's magnetic field caused by a stream of charged particles from the Sun. When they reach our planet, the magnetosphere reacts with fluctuations, which we perceive as storms.
