Several attack drones struck a Shahed drone manufacturing plant today, August 9, in the Republic of Tatarstan near the city of Nizhnekamsk, according to the Telegram channel Atesh.

According to preliminary information, at least one of the attack drones hit a production workshop for Shahed drones. Judging by the video, a fire broke out at the impact site.

Nizhnekamsk is located near the city of Yelabuga, where Russia has established large-scale production of Shahed attack drones.

Russia scales up production of attack drones

It was previously reported that Russia has invested at least $3 billion in establishing mass production of attack drones, including Shaheds. More than 900 companies are already involved in the drone industry.

Additionally, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov said during a national telethon that the Russian army is integrating various solutions that will allow Shaheds to bypass Ukrainian interceptor drones.

He noted that soon the occupiers will begin switching to jet drones, meaning Ukraine needs to start addressing this challenge immediately.
