Local authorities did not confirm the attack on the plant, but locals reported it. Local authorities only reported that “while repelling the attack, one of the drones crashed into a non-residential building.” According to them, there were allegedly no casualties.
According to Russian media, citing the Russian Ministry of Defense, air defense systems allegedly destroyed and intercepted 16 Ukrainian UAVs overnight over the territory of the Bryansk, Rostov, and Belgorod regions. Four UAVs were allegedly shot down over the Bryansk region on the morning of October 19.
“There were no casualties in the Bryansk region, over which 13 UAVs, including three jets, were shot down at night, services are working,” local authorities reported.
Kremniy El plant: Why it is important
Kremniy El is one of the largest microelectronics manufacturers in Russia. The company produces components for military equipment. The plant is located more than 100 kilometers from the border with Ukraine. The plant is involved in the development of new radars, which are intended for air defense, aircraft, and ships, among other things.
Not the first attack
This is not the first time drones attacked the Kremniy El plant. For example, in August last year, a large-scale fire broke out at the plant after a drone attack. Drones also attacked the plant on September 7, 2023, and in June 2024.
