The drones that paralyzed operations at Munich Airport on the evening of October 3 were military drones, according to Bild.

"The drones spotted on Friday evening over Munich Airport were military reconnaissance drones," unnamed sources told the publication.

It is reported that several reconnaissance drones caused the shutdown of Munich Airport yesterday.

Munich Airport was closed late in the evening due to the appearance of unknown drones in its vicinity. It is known that the runways were closed. In total, about 20 flights had to be canceled.

Drone flights over European countries

Over the past two weeks, numerous flights of unidentified drones have been recorded over military and infrastructure facilities in Poland, Germany, and other European countries.

For instance, on September 9, Russian drones entered Polish airspace, and on September 19, three MiG-31 fighter jets crossed the Estonian border and remained in the country’s airspace for over 12 minutes. This incident became the most serious in the past two decades.

On September 27, drones were spotted near the Ørland Air Base in Norway. A large number of F-35 fighter jets are stationed at this base, and recently, NATO training exercises have been held there.

That same day, drones were again seen in Denmark, particularly over airports in Aalborg, Esbjerg, Sønderborg, and near the Skrydstrup Air Base.

Meanwhile, Ryanair has called for the shooting down of drones that pose a threat to Europe’s airports.
Ryanair CEO Michael O’Leary criticized EU leaders for their inability to protect strategic facilities from drone attacks.
