The facility is located near the Engels strategic aviation base, where Tu-95 and Tu-160 aircraft are stationed. These bombers are frequently used by the Russian military for attacks on Ukraine.

What is known about the massive attack

Saratov was just one of the places that came under massive attack. Videos shared on Russian social media showed a significant fire at an industrial site.

In Engels, where a fuel depot had been extinguished just a day earlier after burning for five days, another drone strike reportedly ignited the same facility. Russian Telegram channels reported at least two new hits.

Drones also targeted a plant in Kazan, the capital of Tatarstan. This facility is a strategic site producing materials for military equipment, weapons, and components.

Additionally, Russians reported a missile attack on Bryansk, including strikes on the Bryansk chemical plant and the Kremniy plant.

Sources have confirmed to RBC-Ukraine that the massive overnight attack on January 14 was a special operation by the Security Service of Ukraine and Ukrainian Defense Forces.

Targets included the Alexinsky chemical complex in Tula, storage depots for high-explosive bombs and guided bombs, and cruise missiles at the Engels airfield.

"Every destroyed ammunition depot, refinery, fuel depot, or chemical plant is a significant blow to Russia's ability to sustain its war in Ukraine," a source added.
