Drones hit Rostov-on-Don: Authorities explain attack's significance

Drones attacked Rostov-on-Don. The city is considered a high-value location, home to several important military sites of the Russian army, according to Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD).
"Rostov was attacked at night. There were explosions in the 'Selmash' area, where important military sites are located," he said.
According to Kovalenko, two military airfields are known to be in the area, one of which uses civilian infrastructure that has been repurposed for military needs.
"This area also hosts the deployment of S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems," the military expert added.
Additionally, the Southern Military District headquarters of the Russian army, which coordinates combat operations in southern Ukraine, is located within the city.
Moreover, Kovalenko noted that ammunition depots and technical facilities linked to the logistics of the Russian army have previously been spotted at the 'Selmash' plant.

Specifically, drones targeted an oil pumping station in the suburbs of Chortkovo in the Rostov region and an oil refining station in the Kumilzhensky district of the Volgograd region.
Explosions also occurred overnight in Slavyansk-na-Kubani in Krasnodar Krai and in Rostov-on-Don.
