Drones attack ammunition arsenal in Volgograd region of Russia, reports say
Russia has reported a drone attack on an ammunition arsenal in the Volgograd region. It is located on the territory of one of the Russian military units, the ASTRA Telegram channel reports.
Earlier, as the authors clarify, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that 15 drones were shot down over the Volgograd region on the night of March 8.
As ASTRA found out, two of them allegedly fell on the territory of military unit 57229/51 in the village of Kotluban (formerly No. 92921). Even though the incident occurred on March 8, it became known only three days later.
"One drone exploded after the crash. There were no preliminary injuries," ASTRA states, adding that it has no information about the damage.
Not the first case
According to open data, the military unit in question is a large arsenal of complex ammunition storage for the Russian Federation. According to the Wikimapia service, the arsenal of the Main Directorate of Rocket Artillery of the Russian Ministry of Defense is located here.
ASTRA adds that this is not the first such attack. For example, on November 24, 2023, a drone already fell on the territory of this military unit. At that time, there were allegedly no casualties or damage.
In addition, on November 16, the same military unit was also attacked by a drone, which resulted in the burning of a small arms ammunition depot. According to ASTRA, 630 people were evacuated from the unit.
