Drone attack shuts down Moscow airports temporarily
Unknown drones were spotted near Moscow on November 10. Russians report an attack on the capital.
Around 7:40 a.m., Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin reported that two drones allegedly headed for Moscow were shot down over the Ramenskoye district. He later claimed that an additional 10 drones were destroyed. According to him, air defenses were active in the districts of Ramenskoye, Domodedovo, and Kolomna.
A few minutes later, Sobyanin announced that another 13 drones had been neutralized. In total, Russian air defenses reportedly shot down 25 drones over the Moscow region.
Meanwhile, Russians shared footage online showing the drones in flight. Russian officials stated there were no casualties or damage reported.
According to Russian media, Moscow’s Vnukovo and Domodedovo airports implemented the Carpet protocol, which is activated in cases of potential threats to aircraft or when a border breach is detected.
Airport operations were restricted, with both airports temporarily halting all arrivals and departures.
The network also reported that several fires broke out in the suburbs of Moscow after the explosions.

The Governor of Moscow Region stated that a woman was allegedly injured as a result of the attack.
According to the Mayor of Moscow, Russian air defense in the Moscow region destroyed 32 drones. New footage of fires and destruction in the Moscow region is being shared online.
On the night of November 10, there was also unrest in the Russian city of Bryansk. Explosions were heard, and Russian authorities claimed that air defense systems had allegedly shot down drones. Following the explosions, a fire broke out in Bryansk.
Online reports suggested that a military unit, specifically the 1060th Material and Technical Support Center of the Russian Armed Forces, might have been targeted.
Meanwhile, the Russian Ministry of Defense claimed that more than 23 drones were allegedly destroyed overnight over the Bryansk, Rostov, Belgorod, and Kursk regions.
