Demetra Holding's Russian grain terminal in Novorossiysk suspended operations following a nighttime attack by Ukrainian drones on August 12, Reuters reports.
According to the agency's source in the industry, the terminal's operations have been suspended, and an assessment of the damage is underway.
"Novorossiysk grain terminal suspends operations as damage assessment gets underway," the source says.
The owner of Demetra Holding confirms the damage to the terminal but does not specify its nature and declined to comment further.
Notably, up to one-third of Russia's grain exports pass through the port of Novorossiysk.
Drone attack on Novorossiysk
Last night, Ukrainian Defense Forces struck a Russian naval base in Novorossiysk—the Russian Navy's last major stronghold on the Black Sea.
Palianytsia jet drones, Neptune missiles, and unmanned maritime systems were deployed against designated targets. Strikes on air defense positions, docks, and seaport infrastructure have been confirmed.
A fire at the port was detected by a NASA satellite system that tracks fire outbreaks and assesses their environmental impact. The images showed thermal anomalies at several locations in Novorossiysk.
