Drivers warned of delays at Ukraine-Moldova border

Border travelers may face delays at the Kelmentsi-Larga checkpoint on the Ukrainian-Moldovan border due to ongoing infrastructure upgrades, the State Customs Service of Ukraine reports.
The state agency addressed Ukrainian citizens and international carriers planning to cross the Moldovan border.
"We inform you that repair work has begun at the Kelmentsi-Larga checkpoint to modernize customs and border infrastructure. As a result, temporary delays in customs and border control procedures are possible," the statement says.
Drivers are urged to take these circumstances into account and adjust their travel routes in advance, if necessary.
Real-time information on checkpoint congestion is available via the State Customs Service's interactive map.
Checkpoint congestion and travel tips
Earlier, on July 30, Ukrainians were also warned about possible delays at the Hrushiv-Budomezh checkpoint.
Traditionally, border traffic increases in the summer, with some directions seeing up to a 25% rise in crossings.
Border guards are urging travelers to plan their trips ahead of time and consider possible wait times.
Travelers can cross the border through various checkpoints, including those in the Zakarpattia, Chernivtsi, and Volyn regions. If congestion occurs at one checkpoint, alternative routes should be considered.
In addition, Ukraine and the European Union are currently working on launching joint customs controls aimed at simplifying procedures for carriers and speeding up cargo inspections at the border.
