On the morning of September 28, the occupiers struck a medical facility in Sumy twice in a row. At the time of the attack, nearly 90 patients were inside, and there are already casualties and many wounded.

Threat of drones and уxplosions in Sumy

Around 6:25, air raid sirens were sounded in parts of Ukraine. The military warned of the threat posed by kamikaze drones for Sumy, Kharkiv, and Poltava regions.

After 7:00, explosions were heard in Sumy, according to local media.

Double strike on medical facility in Sumy

The occupiers struck a medical facility in Sumy. Immediately, reports of casualties emerged. According to the Minister of Internal Affairs, Ihor Klymenko, the occupiers carried out two airstrikes on the building.

At the moment, according to the Ministry of Health, the hospital's emergency department has been destroyed, and part of one floor and the roof have been partially demolished. At the time of the strike, there were 86 patients in the hospital, 15 of whom were immobile, as well as 38 hospital staff members.

"Around 07:35, the enemy struck the healthcare facility in Sumy using a Shahed-type UAV. Patients were in the hospital, including immobile individuals," said the North Operational Command.

A second strike by the same type of UAV occurred at 08:25, according to military reports, when rescuers and police arrived at the scene to evacuate and assist the wounded.

7 dead and 12 injured: Among them, police officers and medical staff

Initially, reports stated that six people had died and 11 were injured due to the strikes at the medical facility in Sumy. Among the casualties were police officers and medical workers. During the first strike, one person died, and 10 were wounded; during the second strike, five were killed, and a police officer was injured.

"As of now, it's known that six people have died, including a police officer. Another police officer was wounded," said the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Additionally, among the severely injured were two medical workers: a doctor and a nurse who were in the emergency department. They are currently undergoing surgery.

Later, the Sumy Regional Military Administration reported that the number of casualties and injured had risen, with a preliminary count of 7 dead and 12 severely wounded.

Sumy attacked by three Shaheds

At the moment, it's known that the occupiers attacked with three kamikaze drones.

"According to preliminary data, after the nighttime enemy attacks, Sumy was hit by three more enemy strike drones, two of which hit the hospital," said the Air Force.
