US President Donald Trump said he would hold another conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, scheduled for tomorrow, according to Trump’s remarks at a joint press conference with Zelenskyy following talks at Mar-a-Lago.
According to US President Donald Trump, about 95% of the issues were discussed during today’s meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. He said the sides were very close to their goal, possibly extremely close, noting that a high level of detail had been achieved despite skepticism about whether this would be possible, and added that discussions would continue tomorrow.
Trump–Zelenskyy meeting
On December 26, President Zelenskyy said he intended to hold a meeting with Trump in the near future to discuss a peace plan, stressing that key decisions could be made before the New Year.
Earlier, Zelenskyy presented for the first time a 20-point peace plan coordinated with the United States, along with a package of documents on security guarantees and Ukraine’s post-war recovery. US Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker said that, with active involvement from the White House, a peace agreement could be reached within 90 days.
Zelenskyy also said that during talks with Trump, he planned to focus on five key areas, including security guarantees, the military component, Ukraine’s recovery, and next steps.
Ahead of the meeting with Zelenskyy, Trump held a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin that lasted more than an hour, after which the two agreed to speak again following the Trump–Zelenskyy talks.
The presidents of the United States and Ukraine were also expected to hold consultations with European leaders.
The meeting between Trump and Zelenskyy has already taken place. Further details are available in RBC-Ukraine’s full report.
