Does Russia have enough forces for a new assault in Sumy region? Ukraine's border guards respond

Russia has been amassing forces in the Kursk region for several months. At present, they are enough for an offensive in the Sumy region, says the spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, Andriy Demchenko, on Ukrainian TV.
“The enemy has a large number of forces and means - both in terms of personnel and equipment - within the Kursk region,” he said.
The accumulation began from the moment when Russia tried to oust the Ukrainian forces, which were conducting the operation in the Kursk region.
“That is why the enemy continues to hold them. We periodically see a certain change in the number of enemy soldiers and equipment in this area. But, again, the enemy has enough forces there to carry out actions against our border to make an attempt to attack the territory of Ukraine,” said Demchenko.
Situation in Sumy region
On May 27, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the largest and strongest Russian troops are now in the Kursk direction. Their goal is to push Ukrainian forces out of the Kursk region and prepare an offensive against the Sumy region.
On May 28, the German media outlet Spiegel reported that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was urgently returning from Germany because of Russia's offensive in the Sumy region. However, an informed source of RBC-Ukraine denied this information.
The Spiegel report was also denied by presidential adviser Dmytro Lytvyn. He advised the media to check its information more carefully.
