The MTV Europe Music Awards ceremony, which was scheduled for November 5 in Paris, will not take place this year, according to the official MTV EMA account on X.

MTV EMA 2023 canceled

Organizers canceled the event due to the "volatility of world events," with the Israel-Hamas conflict being the reason.

"The MTV EMAs are an annual celebration of global music. As we watch the devastating events in Israel and Gaza continue to unfold, this does not feel like a moment for a global celebration. With thousands of lives already lost, it is a moment of mourning," said a representative of the award's organizing company, Paramount Global.

He also added that the organizers feel responsible for everyone coming from different parts of the world to enjoy the show, which is why the decision was made not to hold the awards ceremony.

"Given the volatility of world events, we have decided not to move forward with the 2023 MTV EMAs out of an abundance of caution for the thousands of employees, crew members, artists, fans, and partners who travel from all corners of the world to bring the show to life," the statement said.

It's worth noting that the award will not be postponed to a later date; it will only take place next year.
