To live a long and happy life, it is important to monitor your health. There is an important habit that everyone forgets about, but it has a positive impact on the body, according to the Express Health website.

Important habit for health

While everyone knows that each person should aim to drink from 6 to 8 glasses of water every day, Dr. Michael Mosley explains that it's not necessary to actually drink 6 to 8 glasses of water each day. There's a simple way to check if the amount you consume daily is sufficient.

A very simple empirical rule is to try to drink a large glass of water during each meal. This way, you won't forget to drink water. Additionally, it's crucial to keep track of how often you go to the restroom each day. This will help determine if you're drinking enough water.

Dr. Mosley notes that the number of restroom visits can indicate whether you're drinking enough water. It's normal to visit the restroom approximately six to seven times a day.

"If you're only going three or four times per day for a pee then you're probably not drinking enough. And if you're going more than seven or eight times per day, then you're probably drinking too much," adds Michael Mosley.

Signs of dehydration

  • thirst,
  • dry mouth,
  • dark yellow urine with reduced volume during urination,
  • dry and cool skin,
  • headaches,
  • and muscle cramps.

If you're experiencing dehydration, avoid carbonated drinks, alcohol, excessively sweet beverages, or caffeine, as they can further dehydrate you.
